The blurb: Why are there pointy things stuck to a rose? Why are there hairs up inside of your nose? Ada Twist’s head is full of questions.
Like her classmates Iggy and Rosie, Ada has always been endlessly curious.
But when her fact-finding missions and elaborate scientific experiments go too far, her frazzled parents banish her to the Thinking Chair.
Will all that thinking change Ada’s mind?
Surprising fact: Author Andrea Beaty's secret ambition is to star in a Broadway musical.
Christopher's review: In Ada Twist, Scientist book, Ada Marie is a very bright, curious, young girl who has a hunger for knowledge and understanding of all things.
Throughout reading this book I really like Ada’s never-ending void to keep learning more.
From page to page I enjoyed Ada’s many different pondering questions and suggestions of “What does it do?”, “When will it?”, “How does it?”, “Does it have to be so?” and the most important word of the whole story is, “Why?”.
There are some brilliant drawing moments and full colour spreads scenes. The one I liked the most was; in page 14-15, when Ada did a massive colourful ‘Mentos Eruption’ (or fizzy drink geyser) explosion experiment trick at school, that hyped up her whole classmate friends and truly surprised & shocked her school teacher. It feels like I entered into some crazy and exciting children's party.
On page 20, we see Ada doing some experiments on her cat by testing many different kinds of perfume and cologne smells brands on it. She is trying to find out the source of why we can smell and how we can tell the difference between good, bad and the unusual smells she came across in previous pages.
Also in page 24-29, Ada is being forced to sit into the ‘Thinking Chair’ by her parents, because she went beyond her never-ending knowledge limit and is sitting quietly all alone. So that she can slowly re-think her problem, experiment and find the solution.
Through the pages of this book, you will witness Ada's never-ending journey to know it all and question everything in existence in our world.
She will climb high and travel low to know about many different things, like learning lots of unusual names and the purposes of; objects, living & non-living things, where they came from and how things work.
But before she starts her puzzling curious quests, she always asks a question of ‘Why?’
She will go as far as possible to learn all the answers. She may need to learn to have some limits, but that's okay. Ada Marie is going to become one amazing fantastic scientist.
